We are a miracle of God. We have within us the creativity to make a difference in the community we are living. Whatever other’s are doing for commercial purpose is their business, but you and me, can bring change positively to the life around us. It’s not about what others are doing but it’s about what we are doing to influence positively the life around us.
Do you know a drop of water if gathered enough can become an ocean? Likewise, if every one of us in this world decide and take the responsibility to bring change in the community we are living, this world will definitely be a better place to live in. There will be so much of goodness done to those who needs it much.
There is a Buddhist temple which conducts a special activity every now and then. What they do in the activity is, they buy as many live fish as they can and release them back into the river. Does that bring any difference? Maybe you think no, but they do safe a fish from becoming the victim of human desire to eat flesh and for me and that’s a kind act. To the fish of course, but that’s life too. What are they showing to us? That all life matters.
We definitely won’t get a Nobel Prize from the Nobel Foundation for our small but silent service but we do and will get a “noble prize” in many different ways. We get satisfaction from doing something good to the life as a whole. Even if the act is as simple as giving a smile to someone, it is still a noble act. Nobody is born great but you get bestowed with greatness through the deeds you do. That’s is a great ‘Nobel Prize’ if you ask me.
You have to be a great person to make that change like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King. They were not born great. They were just like you and me but they took responsibility to bring about change in the community they were living. If you realize the value of helping, you will make that move and help out to make your community a better place.
Why helping is important? Think about it, you see people begging in the street and you walk by ignoring them. What if someday, suddenly what you have is taken away? Do you think they will be in such condition if they are capable? Sometimes, we see this blind people coming to us and asking for donation, do you think if they have capacity to see like you do, they will even ask? Helping is about being thankful for what we have.
I have seen some people ignoring these people saying, “oh.. its their karma, why must I care” or “it’s just their bad luck”, but what they don’t realize is that they were given a chance to something good. If not for such people, do you think you can even get that chance to do good deeds? That doesn’t mean we let them be in such a way because that’s the purpose they are there. What I mean is we are living in a dynamic world where we all need each other to grow, both materially and spiritually.
You, yes you who is reading this now, do you think you can bring change and make a difference in your life and the community you are living in? Do you believe that all it takes is for you to begin first not expecting others to start? If I thought the same way that someone else have to do it, this blog would not exist. Yet, you know what, Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can or you think you cannot, either way, you are right”, because that’s what you believe in. You can always change your belief and believe otherwise.
Make that change and bring the difference in someone’s life today. Even if is a small act of kindness such as smiling or being friendly, it does matters. You do have an impact on other people’s life. It’s never too late to start doing anything.
