When I look back at all the life experiences I went through, it feels like as if it all has happened Just not too long ago. Just like that, the time has passed by me. Maybe you have looked back at your own life and have wondered too. Ah… how time flies so fast. Fast isn’t it? Looking back to those years, how we came through it all to who we are today, and if we sit down, reflect all those memories for awhile and ask ourself, if we have learned anything at all through all those years, I am pretty sure we can come up with a list of things we learned. Here are some of the lessons I’ve learned thus far in my life: No one can live without love. Everyone is seeking to love and be loved. Life without love can be the most painful life experience and loneliness is the direct result of lack of love no matter how we try to prove it otherwise, this the fact. The cure for loneliness is love. I learned this going through few break ups and knowing this through real experience, I learned we should give out our unconditional [...]

Is there anything wrong with the way things are right now in your life? Let’s say you are having financial difficulties, perhaps you will feel that there is definitely a problem in your life because you are not in the situation you want to be. That perception will continue to exist as long as you see or perceive you condition to be wrong. Consider this. You woke up this morning and saw the sky was clear and you decided to drive out for a picnic. Just when you arrive at the location it started to rain. You probably cursed the rain for ruining your wonderful day, but someone, perhaps a farmer living nearby may have been wishing for it to rain on that day. What happened could have been wrong for you but it was right for someone else. If we could understand that there is a reason for everything that is happening in our life, we could feel positive and handle our circumstances better. Whatever you perceive to be wrong, in reality is something positive. This is true because although we are living in a negative world, the negative itself cannot exist without something positive in it. If we [...]

Anyone who have had enough of sufferings in life and have learned valuable lessons from these experiences can often give very good advice for life. It doesn’t really matter what’s stage in life they are, whether they are married, not married, young or old. What’s more important are the lessons they have learned. In fact, it is not hard to find these people who have been exposed to sharp angularities of life. If you will just look around, you can find one or two of them just around the corner, but for the most part, they are often silent about many of their experiences. You can know them from the way they talk about their experiences. Often the experiences will be full of good advice for life that can elevate and inspire you. Are you looking for a good advice for life? Then find these people who have experienced life enough. Some of them have gone to the level of writing them and sharing them to the world. There are definitely some good books on advice for life at the bookstores, but let me tell you, there is nothing like talking to someone in person compared to reading, but when [...]

I often wonder how many people in this world realize that being alive and to have a life is the greatest gift we can ever have in this world. This statement is true no matter what is your condition. Even if you are living as a wreck, a disabled or whatever worst human condition you can think about. The reality is there is no such thing as good condition or bad condition. All these so called conditions are only differentiation of life experiences. If you are feeling miserable about your life and unhappy always, that is because you have not realized the gift you are having now in your hand. Why do I say that to be alive and to have a life is a great gift in itself? One word answers it all – opportunity. Do you know what a great opportunity you are having now in this life? Today, this very moment in your life, you have the opportunity to be a co-worker with God in this life. Have you ever thought how great it is a gift to be an agent of God in this world? No, I am not saying you have to be a savior [...]

Sometime back, I decided to go out and observe people and see what I can learn from them. I wanted to prove to myself that if we observe people with the right frame of mind, we can learn a lot of things about life. I took a walk to a KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) not far from my house to start my experiment. Silly as it may sound, but if you are working as a researcher, you will do all sort of funny things just to get true information out of people. I picked KFC because I thought it will be easier if I could just sit at one corner inside the KFC and just observe and listen to what people are doing without making them aware of my secret experiment. Anyway, when I reached the KFC, I went to an empty counter and waited for a waitress to come and serve me. A girl came and asked me to move to the next counter as that particular counter was closed. So I moved on. At the counter, a different girl came to me and asked, “Can I help you, sir?” “I would have strawberry float please”, I requested. She [...]

It’s so easy to say that we have created all the difficulties in our life by our own choices, but that’s the truth, whatever we are experiencing in life, both the good and the bad, is the result of our past choices and decisions. For most, the realization that they are the cause of their own problems will not come until they hit bottom, until they have been hit so hard in life and they start to think, “Oh boy, I sure have taken some wrong choices… I am not going to do something wrong again”. Is it possible to take your life, when you have got it all bent and out of shape and make it somewhat decent? How do you reverse some of the bad choices you’ve made in the past? How do you change the mistakes you have done in the past? My own experience says we can’t pretty much do anything about it except to accept the reality of the truth that we have made some mistakes and be willing to face the outcome or consequences of the mistakes at no cost and make sure we don’t make similar mistakes again. That means you have decided [...]

Have you ever experienced in your life where you are very truthful in everything you do and no matter what you do, those people whom you are truthful with just don’t trust you? I have. In fact, I have experienced such people many times. Only they know why they don’t trust us but from my experience, I tend to think it’s either because they don’t trust themselves enough to trust us or they just don’t understand us. Maybe they don’t trust us or anyone easily because of a bad past experience in their life. Life can be hard living with or among people who don’t trust us. This is even more true if the person who don’t trust us is the one we love dearly. It’s true but what can we do? We don’t blame anyone. We can’t force anyone to trust us. We just let them be. Think of it this way… will you trust anyone easily? I am sure you wont. It takes time to build trust. Furthermore, the world around us is build up in such a way, we can no longer bring ourself to trust anyone. So it is true, we can’t really blame anyone. Well, [...]

It is hard to keep yourself motivated if you don’t know the ways. You will probably be motivated for awhile and when something goes wrong, you get discouraged and you give up. How do we stay motivated no matter what happens? There are few things you can do, for example, you can try to remember your original purpose. Perhaps when you remember your goals you will be motivated again. If that doesn’t work, look for the things that can inspire you. Think of something that can inspire you, a song perhaps. How about an inspirational book? I for example, whenever things go wrong or I am feeling down, will listen to the song YMCA by Village People. It always elevates me. How about a movie? Yes, you can also watch a movie that can inspire you. Have you ever been to a movie and came out feeling very good about yourself and everything else in your life? Can you find a movie that can rejuvenate your sense of purpose and direction? Those are just suggestions, but actually we always have a choice of what to do at any given time in our life.
I had a conversation on the phone with an old friend a while ago. While talking he touched on the topic of palm leaf readings by the Indian Rishis (sage), a script written on a kind of palm leaf and used to read and tell the past life of any one who wants to get the reading. In the conversation he were telling me about how important it is for one to find out about their own past life and do whatever they can to solve the past life karma to make this life better and according to him, if we can do that palm leaf reading, we can solve it. He is very convinced we can change our destiny through it. I agreed that we are here because of karma, and I also agreed on the part of solving our past karma to smoothen this life, but I disagreed about that it is the best way to solve our problems. Palm leaf reading is only one of the ways people are using to know their past life. I told him it was we who created the karma and because we created it, we can change it. Whatever other’s are doing for commercial purpose is their business, but you and me, can bring change positively to the life around us. It’s not about what others are doing but it’s about what we are doing to influence positively the life around us. Do you know a drop of water if gathered enough can become an ocean? Likewise, if every one of us in this world decide and take the responsibility to bring change in the community we are living, this world will definitely be a better place to live in. There will be so much of goodness done to those who needs it much. There is a Buddhist temple which conducts a special activity every now and then. What they do in the activity is, they buy as many live fish as they can and release them back into the river. Does that bring any difference? Maybe you think no, but they do safe a fish from becoming the victim of human desire to eat flesh and for me and that’s a kind act. To the [...]

Everyday, in so many ways, we can see people getting irritated, angry or sulking over small little things in life that upsets them be it in family, workplace or simply while hanging out among friends. This is often more true when one is rushing for something and suddenly something goes wrong, specially in at workplace. I often wonder why it is so easy for people to react in anger easily compared to reacting with love and patience. Habit? Perhaps it is. On the other hand, perhaps it is because one is not have a positive outlook. There are many things happening around us we need to become aware, and there are more things to do in life that anger should not matter. We really need to ask ourself what we are contributing to ourself and life instead of why others are treating us like this or like that. Have you ever wondered that maybe the answer is in our own attitude? Maybe we just need a little clearer view of our own thinkings. We know, we can’t change people but we can change ourself.
There is really very little difference among people. If you look at the rich and successful people, and if you believe you can’t have similar success, you are thinking negatively. This is the little difference between the successful and those who are not. The successful people think positively. They have positive outlook in life. They are optimist not pessimist. You too can be successful and create a happy life the way you want. You begin by adopting similar positive attitudes and outlook in life. After all it’s your life. You have the right to choose the type of attitudes you want to adopt. We design and manifest our life according to the attitude we carry in us. So choose the thoughts and feelings that suits you in achieving your success not failure. The problem with people is that they are not optimist and most of the time, they are living for the sake of other people. They are going out there to achieve other people’s dreams. Where are your goals in life? If you want to achieve your success, start identifying what is it that you truly want instead of what other people want. This is not being selfish.
Almost everyone is struggling with self-discipline in this life. We find it in everything we do, in our jobs, in our homes or in our schools. It means can I do this thing on time? For example, you might want to write an article for your blog by 6:00pm, can you do it by then? If you look closely, all these little things in life exist for that very reason, to teach us self-discipline. There is really a special power in self discipline because if we are self-disciplined we can almost achieve anything. How do we achieve this self-discipline? We can achieve self-discipline easily if we understand our purpose in life, clear about our goals, we are devoted and committed to achieve it through focused attention. People often wonder why they lack of self-discipline like many others. We cannot be others but we can be ourself. You are the way you are because you choose to be like that. Think about it. Who is forcing you to do and behave the way you do? No one can make you self-disciplined if you by your own effort don’t want to be self-disciplined. It boils down to one simple fact: self-responsibility. Whatever [...]

Once upon a time, there lived a young man who was a strong believer in metaphysics. We will call him Tom. Tom constantly seeks out astrologers, soothsayers and the like, by the five-foot-ways, in temples and in the most inconceivable places in order to seek spiritual advice on virtually every aspect of his life. One day, Tom went to see a famous Zen hermit who was residing in a limestone cave who was known for fortune telling and his enlighten philosophies. Arriving at the cave where the old wise man was residing, Tom saw the old man sitting cross-legged on the floor and stroking his silvery beard. Looking at Tom, the wise old man asked Tom what he wanted to know. “Master, I want to know what is wrong with me. Why is it that I am always up against all the odds? Why am I not doing any better?”, replied Tom. The wise old man looked hard at Tom for a couple of minutes, stood up and invited him to see his pet, a donkey. He led Tom to a nearby field behind the cave and on reaching there Tom could hear the wailing and moaning of a rather [...]
