We all have personal goals and if you are having problem keeping up with or achieving your personal goals, consider following the four steps as follows which can help you achieve your personal goals. Step 1: Have a very certain and clear personal goal Don’t set a general goal but have a specific about what you want to achieve. Imagine clearly in your mind what you want and make a step by step action plan to achieve it. Understand clearly why you want what you want and remember it as a motivating factor to keep you going. Step 2: Don’t force yourself to achieve your personal goals Whatever personal goals you make, start with something that you can achieve easily and move on to something much bigger or harder to achieve. For example, if you want to loose 50 pound of your weight, don’t try to loose it all at once, because you know that is impossible. Many people are looking for instant way out which is really an illusion. Nothing comes easy or free without efforts. Try loosing 1 pound a week, which is very achievable. At the end of the year, you are more likely to have loss [...]

We can choose any kind of goals in life but the kind of goals we choose in life depends to how much we understand what life is all about. If you have the belief that there is nothing much to life here except to survive, probably you will just have some goals which can enhance your survival here until the day comes for you to leave. Perhaps one of those goals is to be rich. On the other hand perhaps you are wondering if there is more to life and perhaps you have a goal to discover if there is life after death, and so you seek here and there to find a meaning to life. Whatever your goals in life, how do you know for sure that what you want to achieve is the correct goal to have in life? What makes you so sure that what you are pursuing to achieve is worthy pursuing anyway? If we want to answer that question, we need to understand the way life is in this world. As human beings we don’t understand much about life, of course, but there is one truth about life which is undeniable. That is change. Life [...]

Do you know that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line? Let’s say you live in Malaysia and you want to go to New York, USA. Which way will be the most direct and fastest way? Surely, you will say by taking the direct flight there from Malaysia. Why not drive through Thailand, Myanmar all the way to Europe and take a ferry from there? Yes, though it will be adventurous because you can see a lot of things, but the time it takes is longer compared to the direct flight. In fact you will put yourself in danger of getting sidetracked by these things you see along the long path and you may never reach your destination. It will happen if you are caught up with what’s happening along your journey. When it comes to achieving something in life, we need to find the most direct path in order not to get sidetracked or waste time. Yet, people are more prone to take the longer road than the short road and the common excuse is, “but I don’t know how to reach my destination faster”. I wonder. Is it the world lack information to guide people [...]

Have you ever thought why you are not achieving your goals? It’s because your goals are not powerful and is vague. Your goals have to be great and clear enough to set your imagination on fire. Your goals must excite your imagination. Something powerful always excites the mind – either positively or negatively. So your goals must have some kind of power to it and make every cells of your being vibrate to unite with the goal itself. A powerful goal has a life of its own. It has a great energy to create the greatest motivation in you to achieve it. Your goal should move you and take possession of yourself. It wakes you up in the morning and get you going. It is so real that you can taste it, smell it and see it clearly in your mind. You become mesmerized by your goal. Your goal has to be so powerful that it haunts you wherever you go. You are haunted by your goal. Wherever you go or whatever you do, your goal is there, standing beside you in your mind, looking and watching you. You are not able to take your mind off it. You see [...]

I often encourage people to have a clear goal in life. Just why is it so important to have a clear goal? There is an interesting inspirational story about a fox that failed to catch a rabbit which explains well why we need to know our goals clearly. In the story, the foxes had a meeting to nominate one among them to catch a rabbit for dinner. The nominated fox spotted a rabbit and commenced a chase. The rabbit was very fast. It ran with great ingenuity and speed. Though the fox pursued the rabbit using all of the skills available, the rabbit managed to escape. The foxes, then had a postmortem meeting to analyze the race. They were sure the objectives of the chase could have been achieved if only the nominated fox had been more skillful. Right at that moment, the nominated fox remarked, “before you start dishing out criticism, let me remind you about the rules of the chase. Let’s get one thing clear. While I was running for my dinner, the rabbit was running for its life.” That clearly shows that for different goals, we use different levels of effort. Do we know what we are [...]
