Is there a difference between divine love and human love? Can the love we have for our mate be any different to the love we have for God? Which is true love and which is higher love?
If you ask me, the highest love will be the pure love we have for God and a pure love for the person we love should be the same as the love we have for God. That’s true loving. We should not differentiate that one type of love is greater than another or so and so because there is no difference in true love. Love is one and it is the substance that unites everything.
When we talk about human love, what it usually mean is the emotional feeling that we feel being with someone. It feels good sometimes and it feels painful sometimes but true love is beyond good and bad. It’s sole purpose is to sustain life. Couples who understands this will come together and join forces to help each other reach higher levels of spirituality and it is sweet indeed.
Thus, there should not be any disagreement in a relationship. If you find yourself in disagreement with your partner, it means both of you are at two different levels of understanding. Either you work something out to find a common ground or you move on with your life on your own, because disagreements will only hurt.
Divine love does not weigh down, nor carry his servant captive and enslaved to the lowest depths, but raises him, supports him and magnifies him above all liberty whatsoever. – Giordano Bruno
