Find Your Talent

Find Your Talent

There is a story about a Jewish couple in England sometime ago who set their heart on having a son. When a son was born to them, they insisted that he should be a genius. His records in school however, dismayed his parents who had to employ a number of tutors to help the boy scrape through his examinations from one class to the next.

After completing school with the greatest of difficulty, the boy was sent to Oxford, where he did not fare any better. In order to avoid discrimination, the family changed their name from a typically Jewish one to Abercrombie.

One day, Mr. and Mrs. Abercrombie went to Wembley Station in London to see a football match between England and Scotland. Their son was playing for England and the stadium was a sea of heads. Suddenly, the game progressed, the spectators were so excited that they stood up and shouted in unison, “Abercrombie got the ball, Abercrombie got the ball, Abercrombie is a genius”.

What Determines Our Life Circumstances

What Determines Our Life Circumstances

In my previous article on finding opportunity, I asked if we create opportunities or wait for opportunities. In this article we will take a look at the phrase ‘to create’ and the postulates we carry in our mind and how they affect our life.

What does to create means? It means doing the activity of creating or being in creative activity. Do you know that we are constantly participating in the process of creating something?

When you are working in the office, for example, even though the work you are doing might be for your boss, your boss is actually creating something he wants through you. Creations are taking place everywhere.

What Is An Opportunity?

What Is An Opportunity?

What do you think of opportunity? I know it can mean different thing for different people, but what does it means personally to you? Do we create opportunity or do we wait for the opportunity to come to us? Some say we should create opportunities, while some others say we should wait.

In the case of creating opportunity, we have to have the right resources or a least enough of it; if not how can we create the opportunity? Resources in this context can be money or knowledge. On the other hand, if we wait for the opportunity, how certain can we be that it will arrive? It isn’t easy to predict if we don’t know the way. Waiting is like gambling and that is not a wise way of getting or achieving something.

How To Find Ideas

How To Find Ideas

I have been trying so much to ensure that I post at least one article daily in this blog, but sometimes I do lack inspiration or creativity to write. Is this what they call writer’s block? Some writers consider it such. Perhaps it is just lack of ideas.

As a blog writer we can write and post anything on our blog, especially if our blog is a personal blog but this is a niche blog. In this blog I focus on giving useful life improvement advice. So whatever I write must be relevant to the goal of this blog. I cannot simply write on any subject unless it is related to improving one’s life.

If you are in the same shoe as me writing a niche blog, probably you have experienced similar situation. What do you do when you experience this lack of idea to write? Do you wait for the idea to flow or you do something to get the idea flowing? Can we create ideas? If yes, how do we create ideas? Perhaps, we don’t create ideas but we find ideas.

Making Hard Decisions Are The Best

Making Hard Decisions Are The Best

It’s human nature to try and avoid making hard decisions, but I say the toughest ones are some of the best moments in life. Every time I’ve ever had to make a hard decision, I’ve always chosen the most difficult path. And these moments have become some of the most important and best turning points in my life. They made my life far richer than I could ever have dreamed, and were responsible for quantum jumps in my self confidence and inner security.

So, now I look for those hard decision – in fact, I’m eager to take them on. They don’t come around very often, but when they do, try to appreciate them for the opportunities they can offer. The problem with though decisions is that your intellect – as well as your friends and hired expert – will always caution you to go one way, while your heart tells you to pick another way. These decisions are usually choices between money and an idea or project that you believe in – even changing your career or spending your vacation building houses for the poor. Trust your heart – that’s what it’s there for.

Plan For The Worst

Plan For The Worst

Maybe it was my upbringing, but I’ve always expected and planned for the worst. It has been a great motivation for trying to do exactly what I’ve really wanted to do with my life, and not necessarily sticking to the “safe bets” in life.

In the early days of my business, I would sit in front of my telephone and try to get up the nerve to make calls and ask perfect strangers to toss some work my way. I wondered why it was so difficult to make each call – what was I afraid of? Then I’d ask myself, “What’s the worst thing that can happen if I make this call? Will the person reach through the wires, grab me by the throat and start squeezing?”
